Filla wasn't the only one working in the rushing yards department: Akron was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 217 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 217 rushing yards in six consecutive contests dating back to last season.

St. Mary's took a serious blow against Akron in their previous matchup back in September of 2023, falling 43-8. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point St. Mary's was down 36-0.
