Morton waltzed into their contest on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They slipped by the Quitman Panthers 48-47. The win almost wasn't to be: Morton was down 38-24 in the third quarter.

Nazrin Lyles had an outrageously good game as she dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Mariona Boyd was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was TATIYONNA PITTMAN, who posted 14 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was AIYANNA DEAR, who had nine points and six rebounds.

Morton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Quitman, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 13-7 record.

Morton has already played their next game, a 47-18 victory against Ridgeland on the 18th. As for Quitman, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-29 defeat against Bay Springs on the 20th.
