Baseball Recap: Manchester Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Manchester barely beat Fayetteville-Perry the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Greyhounds were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over the Rockets on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Greyhounds, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Luke Applegate, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Braylon Rickett was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Manchester was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .407 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Manchester's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Fayetteville-Perry, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Manchester will venture away from home to square off against Minford at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Fayetteville-Perry, they will host Fairfield at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
