Basketball Game Preview: Whitehall-Yearling Rams vs. Bloom-Carroll Bulldogs

Whitehall-Yearling hasn't had much luck against Bloom-Carroll recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Whitehall-Yearling Rams will welcome the Bloom-Carroll Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. One thing working in Whitehall-Yearling's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.

Whitehall-Yearling is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing South: they outscored them in every quarter. Whitehall-Yearling blew past South 59-39 on Wednesday. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Bloom-Carroll strolled past St. Francis DeSales with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 54-37. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Bloom-Carroll's win came from a few key players Whitehall-Yearling will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Emma Sorrell, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 18 rebounds. Sorrell is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Whitney Passen, who went 5-for-8 on her way to 17 points.

Bloom-Carroll smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive games.

Bloom-Carroll's win bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Whitehall-Yearling, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Whitehall-Yearling took a serious blow against Bloom-Carroll in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 79-39.
