Baseball Game Preview: Arroyo Dons vs. Tennyson Lancers

Arroyo is a perfect 4-0 against Tennyson since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Dons are taking a road trip to take on the Lancers at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Arroyo has four straight wins, Tennyson has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Arroyo took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Encinal, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Dons won by a run and slipped past the Jets 7-6.

Jered Montenegro made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Arroyo is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-8 otherwise. Montenegro was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Gabe Zamora and Marco Carbajal did most of the damage at the plate: Zamora went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Carbajal went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those three stolen bases gave Zamora a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Nelson, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Tennyson's offense. They lost 34-0 to Mt. Eden last Friday.

Tennyson's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Arroyo, their record now sits at 7-8.
