Football Recap: Gregory Jackson and Luke Sharp Pace Union Grove Defense

Union Grove extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 0-2. They took a 35-20 bruising from the Eagle's Landing Christian Academy Chargers. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Even if they lost, Union Grove's defensive line still kept up the pressure with six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Gregory Jackson and Luke Sharp, who racked up four sacks between them. Terrance Hill was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making 14 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

As for Eagle's Landing Christian Academy, the win got them back to even at 1-1. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their seven-point performance the match before.

Eagle's Landing Christian Academy was led to victory by Cason Carrigan and Aidan Mathews. Carrigan threw for 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Mathews gained 123 total yards and three touchdowns. Mathews' longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Eagle's Landing Christian Academy's leading receiver Cameron Matthews was Carrigan's top target yet again, picking up 148 receiving yards.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Union Grove is set to square off against their familiar foe McDonough at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Eagle's Landing Christian Academy will take on rival Ola at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
