Baseball Game Preview: Eastern Eagles vs. Apollo Eagles

Eastern will venture away from home to square off against Apollo at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Eastern will be strutting in after a victory while Apollo will be coming in after a defeat.

Eastern came out on top against Owensboro on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Eagles took their game against the Red Devils 13-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Niko Williams tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Toby Parks was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Bobby Camarota was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Apollo and Meade County meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Eagles fell just short of the Green Waves by a score of 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by just one run.

Apollo's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Eastern, their win bumped their record up to 12-18.
