Recap: Ewing Blue Devils vs. Red Bank Catholic Caseys
After a string of four wins, the Ewing Blue Devils's good fortune finally ran out on Sunday. They took a 50-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Red Bank Catholic. While losing is never fun, Ewing can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Red Bank Catholic is ranked fifth).
Despite the loss, Ewing still got an impressive performance from Rhian Stokes, who scored 25 points along with five steals. Stokes is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Te'Yala Delfosse, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds.
Red Bank Catholic found their leader in underclassman Addy Nyemchek, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Daniela Maletsky was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Ewing's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Red Bank Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ewing will take on Hightstown at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Red Bank Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Rumson-Fair Haven at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
