It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but University had no problem doing just that on Monday. They put the hurt on the DeLand Bulldogs with a sharp 8-1 win. Considering the Titans have won nine matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Addison Pertler was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Delgado, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
University pushed their record up to 17-7 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for DeLand, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.
University will challenge Spruce Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. DeLand does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
