Baseball Recap: Spanish River Takes a Loss

Spanish River fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against St. John Paul II Academy on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 5-4. The Sharks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Spanish River saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jason Rothberg, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Spanish River moved to 13-10 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for St. John Paul II Academy, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-7-1 record.

Spanish River didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-1 loss against Cardinal Newman on the 7th. As for St. John Paul II Academy, they will host Dwyer at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
