Basketball Game Preview: Central of Clay County Volunteers vs. Briarwood Christian Lions

The Central of Clay County Volunteers will head out to challenge the Briarwood Christian Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Central of Clay County strolled past Shelby County with points to spare, taking the game 42-28. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Volunteers.

Central of Clay County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ramyah Billingsley out in front who went 5 for 11 on her way to 14 points. Billingsley is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. Zy?Keria Heflin was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Central of Clay County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Briarwood Christian waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They breezed by the Aggies to the tune of 56-18.

Briarwood Christian pushed their record up to 13-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Central of Clay County, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
