Baseball Recap: Watkins Memorial Has No Trouble Against Licking Heights

Watkins Memorial had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 9-8 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Licking Heights Hornets with a sharp 12-5 victory. The Warriors not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9th (when they won 12-3).

Bradley Vincent made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dylan Gray, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Vincent, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs.

As for Licking Heights, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-16. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly seven runs.

On Licking Heights' side, Maxim Fink made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
