Soccer Game Preview: Diboll vs. Madisonville

The Diboll Lumberjacks will face off against the Madisonville Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Diboll has given up an average of 4.2 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Diboll is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals last Friday, they were much more limited against Palestine on Friday. They lost 11-0 to the Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Lumberjacks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 677th, while the Wildcats are ranked 105th).

Meanwhile, Madisonville entered their tilt with Westwood on Friday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. Their defense stepped up to hand the Panthers an 8-0 shutout. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by three goals or more this season.

Madisonville pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 35 goals over those six contests. As for Diboll, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Diboll suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Madisonville when the teams last played back in February. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Diboll was down 4-0.
