Baseball Recap: Aurora Central Catholic Triumphs

While Aurora Central Catholic's victory against IC Catholic Prep wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Chargers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Knights 3-1. The victory continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won three in a row.

Aurora Central Catholic got a great performance from Cayden Lohrey as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Lohrey also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Chargers are 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Aurora Central Catholic let Luke Torrence and Brodie Curry run wild. Torrence went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Curry went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most RBI Torrence has posted since back in March.

Aurora Central Catholic's record is now 13-10. As for IC Catholic Prep, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-15.

Looking ahead, Aurora Central Catholic will welcome De La Salle at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for IC Catholic Prep, they will head out on the road to square off against Leo at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.52 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
