Basketball Preview: Socorro Bulldogs vs. Americas Trail Blazers

Socorro is 1-9 against the Trail Blazers since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Socorro Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Americas Trail Blazers at 7:30 p.m. Socorro has now lost 16 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 2.

Last Tuesday, Socorro came up short against the Aztecs and fell 40-32.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Giselle Medrano, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Nataly Dominguez was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six assists and five steals.

Meanwhile, Americas was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past the Thunderbirds 60-23 on the road. Given Americas' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 852nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Socorro dropped their record down to 6-23 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Americas, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-6 record this season.

Socorro was dealt a bruising 60-27 loss at the hands of the Trail Blazers in their previous matchup back in January. Can Socorro avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
