Volleyball Recap: The Academy of the Holy Cross Beats Mount De Sales Academy for Their 12th Straight Win

The Academy of the Holy Cross put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Mount de Sales Academy Sailors with a sharp 3-0 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tartans also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2021.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: The Academy of the Holy Cross took every set by at least 14 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-11, 25-8.

The Academy of the Holy Cross can attribute much of their success to Leszlee Cuellar, who had four aces. Those four aces gave Cuellar a new career-high. Saina Fernando also deserves some recognition as she had her first digs of the season.

They weren't the only good server: The Academy of the Holy Cross was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least nine aces in three consecutive matches.

The Academy of the Holy Cross' win bumped their record up to 12-0. As for Mount de Sales Academy, their loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Coming up, The Academy of the Holy Cross is taking a road trip to take on St. John's at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mount de Sales Academy, they will challenge Archbishop Spalding at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
