Football Recap: West Laurens' Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six + How To Watch

West Laurens extended their winning streak to six on Friday, bumping them up to 6-0. They took down the Baldwin Braves 70-55. This was payback for the Raiders, who suffered a 26-24 loss the last time these two teams met.

Ty Cummings produced another solid performance rushing for 615 yards and eight TDs while picking up 32.4 yards per carry. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 17 rushing touchdowns on the season.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: West Laurens was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 645 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 176 rushing yards in 12 consecutive games dating back to last season.

West Laurens' defensive line stepped up as well, laying out Kamden Patterson five times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as five different players picked up one apiece. West Laurens got some further help from Maxx Chafin: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made 12 total tackles.

As for Baldwin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3. Despite 99 more yards than West Laurens, the Braves couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Despite the loss, Baldwin still got an impressive performance from Patterson, who threw for 432 yards and five touchdowns while completing 72.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 67 yards on only nine carries. 100 of Patterson's passing yards were hauled in by Kielan Walker.

Coincidentally, West Laurens and Baldwin will both be playing Academy of Richmond County the next time they take the field. The Braves will host the Musketeers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Raiders will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on October 10.
