Basketball Recap: Gillion Academy Triumphs

Gillion Academy had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They managed a 67-62 win over the Miller School of Albemarle Mavericks.

Marcis Ponder had an outrageously good game as he dropped a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Bryant, who shot 46% from the field en route to 10 points and six boards.

Gillion Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-36 victory against Shining Stars Sports Academy on the 25th. As for Miller School of Albemarle, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Tandem Friends at 6:30 p.m. on December 2.
