Preview: R.J. Reynolds Demons vs. Reagan Raiders
The R.J. Reynolds Demons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Reagan Raiders at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
R.J. Reynolds pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were the victim of a tough 79-55 loss at the hands of West Forsyth. While losing is never fun, R.J. Reynolds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while West Forsyth is ranked 53rd).
Despite their defeat, R.J. Reynolds saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Antoine Jones Jr., who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Jones Jr. has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Truzy, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Reagan won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. Their tough 58-37 defeat to Mount Tabor might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Reagan has scored all season.
R.J. Reynolds dropped their record down to 10-12 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Reagan, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.
R.J. Reynolds came up short against Reagan in their previous meeting back in January, falling 58-52. Will R.J. Reynolds have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
