Softball Recap: Lincolnton Takes a Loss

Lincolnton had lost six straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 6-17 to make it seven. They came up short against the East Burke Cavaliers, falling 9-1. The Wolves were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cavaliers earlier this season, when they won 10-9.

As for East Burke, with the victory, they broke their ten-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-20. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 10-0).

For East Burke's part, Addy Fortenberry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ally Boyette, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Kyndal Morrison was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs.

Lincolnton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Burke, they will square off against Bunker Hill at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cavaliers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
