Preview: Warde Mustangs vs. Darien Blue Wave
The Warde Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Darien Blue Wave at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
On Tuesday, things could have been worse for Warde, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 57-43 loss to Staples. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Warde has scored all season.
Even though Darien has not done well against Greenwich recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Darien walked away with a 68-60 win over Greenwich. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Warde has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. As for Darien, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
Warde strolled past Darien in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a score of 67-49. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Darien's Simeon Doll, who scored 21 points. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Warde to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
