Softball Game Preview: Newberg Tigers vs. Ridgeview Ravens

Newberg has won three straight games at home, while Ridgeview has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Tigers will welcome the Ravens at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Newberg 3.8, Ridgeview 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Newberg came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 9-3 to Hillsboro.

Delainy Willard was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Lucy Kitchen also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Ridgeview faced McNary in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Ravens sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Celtics. The two-run effort marked the Ravens' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Newberg's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Ridgeview, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.
