Baseball Game Preview: Quartz Hill Royals vs. Windward Wildcats

The Quartz Hill Royals will take on the Windward Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Quartz Hill is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Quartz Hill is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Eastside on Friday as they made off with a 17-5 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Royals.

Parker White made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Quartz Hill's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 4-2 (and 6-8 when he doesn't). White was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Ryder Perry was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Marley Castaneda was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Quartz Hill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Windward fell victim to Crossroads and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Roadrunners. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Wildcats were not able to get on the board.

This is the second loss in a row for Windward and nudges their season record down to 11-8. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Quartz Hill, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
