Basketball Recap: Linn County Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Linn County can now relate to. They were dealt a 59-15 defeat at the hands of the Grundy County/Newtown-Harris Panthers on Tuesday. The Mustangs just can't catch a break and have now endured 12 losses in a row.

It was another big night for Kinsley Allnutt, who almost dropped a double-double with 28 points and nine rebounds for Grundy County/Newtown-Harris. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Allnutt has scored at least a third of Grundy County/Newtown-Harris' points. Another player making a difference was Lexa Stonger, who posted nine points along with eight steals and seven assists.

Linn County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-21. As for Grundy County/Newtown-Harris, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-9.

Linn County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Grundy County/Newtown-Harris, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers take on the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
