Basketball Recap: Gaffney Indians vs. Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes

Gaffney easily dispatched Wilson Hall last Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Gaffney Indians fell just short of the Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes by a score of 67-64 on Monday. The Indians were not able to make up for their defeat to the Swamp Foxes from their previous meeting back in December of 2019.

Gaffney's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Londin Bailey, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds. Bailey is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Mcswain, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 14 points.

Even though they lost, Gaffney was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ashley Ridge only racked up nine assists.

Ashley Ridge's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Clayton Everett Jr, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Everett Jr is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Nasir Mcelveen was another key player, going 5 of 7 on his way to 13 points and eight rebounds.
