Recap: Phoenix Spartans vs. West Jefferson Buccaneers

The Phoenix Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 28 points or more this season. They blew past West Jefferson 52-21 at home. Given Phoenix's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while West Jefferson is ranked 350th), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Phoenix's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamiya Addison led the charge by scoring 11 points. Jazlyn Morton was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Phoenix now has a winning record of 9-8. As for West Jefferson, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-12.

Phoenix will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Booker T. Washington at 5:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. West Jefferson won't have much time to rest: their next game is against East Iberville at 5:00 p.m. on December 19th. East Iberville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
