Preview: Antioch Sequoits vs. Round Lake Panthers
The Antioch Sequoits will head out on the road to take on the Round Lake Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Antioch will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Wednesday, Antioch was able to grind out a solid win over Lakes, taking the game 50-39. That's two games straight that Antioch has won by exactly 11 points.
Antioch found their leader in underclassman Heidi Rathmann, who scored 26 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Rathmann has scored at least a third of Antioch's points. Addison Webb was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Round Lake suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They were beaten by Warren Township 55-20. While losing is never fun, Round Lake can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 522nd, while Warren Township is ranked 107th).
Antioch's win bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Round Lake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.
Antioch came out on top in a nail-biter against Round Lake in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, sneaking past 42-40. Does Antioch have another victory up their sleeve, or will Round Lake turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
