Baseball Recap: Snook Christian Academy Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Snook Christian Academy can now relate to. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Choctaw Academy Rebels on Tuesday. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Rebels recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Ethan Bettner was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Bettner wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kile Votaw, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Snook Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for South Choctaw Academy, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Rebels beat Snook Christian Academy by a score of 6-4 later that day.
