Baseball Recap: Poth Pirates vs. Lytle Pirates
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Poth can now relate to. They fell just short of Lytle by a score of 8-6 on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against Lytle this season, with their most recent loss being a 7-0 defeat on Thursday.
Kason Band was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jacob Clark made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs.
This is the second loss in a row for Poth and nudges their season record down to 25-9. As for Lytle, they are on a roll lately: they've won 22 of their last 23 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-6-1 record this season.
