Softball Recap: Metropolitan Learning Center Dragons vs. Parish Hill Pirates

Metropolitan Learning Center extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-2 in the process. They fell 13-9 to the Parish Hill Pirates. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Dragons of the 14-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Parish Hill's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

For Parish Hill's part, Julie Millerd made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off four hits. Millerd was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

In other batting news, Eva Donnelly-Hardisty and Allison Butts did most of the damage at the plate: Donnelly-Hardisty got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, six stolen bases, and four runs, while Butts got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Donnelly-Hardisty is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Sionna Houser was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
