It was a proper cat-fight when Bolivar Central challenged Fayette Ware on Tuesday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 26-11 margin over the Wildcats. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Tigers this season.
Leah Smith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Smith was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

Haywood got a massive performance out of Karly Young, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was Young's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Desteny Bond, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Haywood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bolivar Central has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Haywood, though, as they've been averaging 9.8 hits. Given Bolivar Central's sizable advantage in that area, the Tomcats will need to find a way to close that gap.
Bolivar Central took their win against Haywood in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 15-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
