Basketball Recap: iMater Charter Comes Up Short

IMater Charter and Monsignor Pace squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but IMater Charter had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Monsignor Pace Spartans 63-13. The Knights lost against the Spartans in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 93-6 score last time.

Leading Monsignor Pace to victory were Evelyn Cortes and Aleaijah Russell. Cortes dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 boards, while Russell went 8 for 10 en route to 20 points and three steals. Cortes is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 26 games she's played dating back to last season. Melissa Carrasco was another key player, putting up nine points.

IMater Charter's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Monsignor Pace, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

IMater Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Monsignor Pace, they will take on Cardinal Gibbons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
