Volleyball Recap: Brimfield Starts Season with Victory Against ROWVA/Williamsfield

Brimfield had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They had just enough and edged out the ROWVA/Williamsfield Cougars 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won five in a row.

Brimfield had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-16, 25-19.

Among those leading the charge was Josie Wiewel, who had five digs and three aces. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (nine).

They weren't the only good server: Brimfield was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 21 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in eight consecutive matches dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why ROWVA/Williamsfield lost, don't look at Ella Rigg. Despite the final result, she had nine digs.

Brimfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Dunlap on the 27th. As for ROWVA/Williamsfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Cuba/Spoon River Valley on the 27th.
