Independence and Columbia Central pushed the score to 11-10 the last time they played Columbia Central, but on Tuesday defenses reigned supreme. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lions, sneaking past 2-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-10 two weeks ago.

Kerrigan Riebe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Independence saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reagan Maxon, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Independence's record is now 18-12. As for Columbia Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 19-11 record this season.

Independence will face off against Centennial at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Columbia Central, they will take on Nolensville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
