Baseball Recap: Bloomfield Finds Playoff Glory Versus Albuquerque Academy

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Bloomfield had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Albuquerque Academy Chargers 4-2. The win continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won three in a row.

Blake Spencer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Gavin Pecotte was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Trae Woods, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Bloomfield's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Albuquerque Academy, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-10.

As of now, neither Bloomfield nor the Chargers have any future games scheduled.
