Basketball Recap: Western Reserve's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

It was a good run, but Western Reserve unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 51-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mineral Ridge Rams. The contest marked the Blue Devils' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Mineral Ridge was led to victory by Ava Hulett and Sullivan Sandy. Hulett dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, while Sandy went 6 of 15 on her way to 16 points and four steals. Sandy is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Molnar, who posted five points.

Western Reserve's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-2. As for Mineral Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Western Reserve will venture away from home to challenge Lowellville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mineral Ridge, they will head out to face off against Columbiana at 7:00 p.m. on December 30th. Columbiana is on a five-game streak of home wins, Mineral Ridge a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
