Baseball Recap: Richmond Finds Home Field Redemption Against Cambridge City Lincoln

There's no place like home for Richmond, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles a 9-0 shutout on Thursday. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Aiden McWhinney made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Richmond let Tyrel Brown and Wyatt Kier run wild. Brown went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Kier went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those two hits gave Brown a new career-high. Darwyn Roman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Richmond now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Cambridge City Lincoln, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Coming up, Richmond will challenge Mt. Vernon at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Cambridge City Lincoln, they will square off against Muncie Burris at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
