Basketball Recap: Williamsville South Falls Short of Ardsley in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Williamsville South can now relate to. They fell 47-35 to the Ardsley Panthers on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Billies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Panthers are ranked 18th).

Iva Corluka was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds for Ardsley. That makes it five consecutive games in which Corluka has scored at least a third of Ardsley's points. Another player making a difference was Leah Burriss, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards.

Williamsville South moved to 7-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Ardsley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season.

Williamsville South does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ardsley, they have already played their next game, a 39-28 win against Wantagh on the 22nd.
