Basketball Recap: Trinity Perry Moore's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Johnston over C.B. Aycock

West Johnston was the 36-32 winner over C.B. Aycock when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The West Johnston Wildcats received a blow on Friday as they fell 51-32 to the C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 332nd, while the Golden Falcons are ranked 114th).

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trinity Perry Moore, who posted 15 points and three steals. Rhyli Quirk was another key player, putting up two points and four blocks.

Leading C.B. Aycock to victory were Audrey Teasley and Madison Smith. Teasley went 9 for 12 to rack up 23 points and three steals, while Smith put up 13 points and six boards. What's more, Teasley also posted a 80% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2023.

This is the second loss in a row for West Johnston and nudges their season record down to 9-11. As for C.B. Aycock, they pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Smithfield-Selma the next time they take the court. West Johnston will head out to face Smithfield-Selma at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while C.B. Aycock will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
