            Softball Preview: Ponaganset Chieftains vs. North Kingstown Skippers        
        
		
        
        
            For the first time this season, Ponaganset will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be defending their home field for the first time this season  when they go up against the North Kingstown Skippers  at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. North Kingstown took a loss in their last  matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Ponaganset, who comes in off a win.
Ponaganset is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Toll Gate. The Chieftains came out on top against the Titans by a score of  8-4  on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Chieftains sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row dating back to last season.
 Ava DiFiore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered  just two earned  (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Maia Salvo, who  went 2-for-4 with one  home run, five  RBI,  and one  double. The team also got some help courtesy of  Mia Duncan, who  scored two  runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, North Kingstown came up short against  Pilgrim on Friday, falling  9-1.
 North Kingstown saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Gianna Amedeo, who  scored a  run while going 1-for-3.
