Basketball Game Preview: Covina Colts vs. Rowland Raiders

The Covina Colts will face off against the Rowland Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Covina didn't have quite enough to beat Wilson and fell 48-45. The Colts have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Rowland had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 56-28 win over the Vikings. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 487th, while the Vikings are ranked 1042nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rowland is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Covina, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-14.

Covina was able to grind out a solid victory over Rowland in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 54-45. Will Covina repeat their success, or does Rowland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
