Baseball Recap: Dirigo Comes Up Short

Dirigo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Gray-New Gloucester Patriots. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 6-0 to the Patriots when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Dirigo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Crosby, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Crosby has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Dirigo's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Gray-New Gloucester, their win bumped their record up to an identical 2-6.

Coming up, Dirigo will be playing in front of their home fans against Winthrop at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gray-New Gloucester, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Freeport at 5:00 p.m. on the 20th.
