Volleyball Recap: Waiakea Takes a Loss

Waiakea was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ysleta Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on Friday.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Waiakea sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 23-25, 25-19.

Waiakea's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Ysleta, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Waiakea will square off against Hilo at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ysleta, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Socorro at 6:30 p.m. on September 2.
