Softball Recap: Woodbridge Triumphs

Woodbridge's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Irvine Vaqueros by a score of 4-1. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 19, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Mia Tamkoc spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Woodbridge's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Clarissa Stayrook, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Seli Yamamoto was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

The victory got Woodbridge back to even at 5-5-1. As for Irvine, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

Woodbridge and Irvine will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time Woodbridge sees the field they'll take on Rosary Academy at 3:30 p.m. on April 7. As for Irvine, their break will end when they face University at 3:30 p.m. on April 7.
