Recap: Newark Academy Minutemen vs. Hopkins Hilltoppers
The Newark Academy Minutemen's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They lost to Hopkins at home by a decisive 42-27 margin.
When it comes to explaining why Newark Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ewan Jack. Despite the final result, he picked up 116 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Jack's longest reception was for an incredible 74 yards.
Newark Academy's defeat was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.9 points per game. As for Hopkins, their win ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-7.
Newark Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hopkins also has no future games currently scheduled.
