Volleyball Recap: Lauren Wilkerson Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Robertson

Sandia Prep hadn't done well against Robertson recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Sundevils blew past the Cardinals 3-0. That's more bragging rights for the Sundevils, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-16, 25-19.

Sandia Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lauren Wilkerson out in front who had 21 digs and two aces. Wilkerson is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Addy Combs, who had 19 assists and six digs.

Sandia Prep pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Robertson, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.

Sandia Prep and Robertson will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Sundevils are set to challenge their familiar foe East Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Robertson will take on rival Santa Fe Indian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
