Recap: Howland Tigers vs. Canfield Cardinals
The Howland Tigers lost against the Canfield Cardinals back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Howland took a hard 54-37 fall against the Cardinals. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Howland has scored all season.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Anthony Chieffo, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was John Perry, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Howland and nudges their season record down to 7-9. As for Canfield, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Howland will take on the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Austintown-Fitch presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Tigers in Ohio (the Falcons are ranked 100th, while the Tigers are ranked 312th). As for Canfield, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Quakers at 2:30 p.m. on January 27th. Salem is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
