Baseball Recap: Jake Brande's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Palm Desert over West Ranch

West Ranch hit Palm Desert with a four-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Aztecs might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 4-3 to the Wildcats, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 on Thursday.

Palm Desert saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Brande, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Palm Desert and nudges their season record down to 23-6. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for West Ranch, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-9.

Palm Desert does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for West Ranch, they will challenge Crean Lutheran at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Saints' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
