Softball Recap: Phelps Comes Up Short

Phelps was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 24th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Council Cobras. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cobras this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-5 back in March.

Phelps' loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Council, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Phelps will square off against Mount View at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Knights have averaged an impressive 11.6 runs per game this season. As for Council, they will take on Grundy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
