Volleyball Recap: Ironton Falls to Gallia Academy in First Game of Season

Ironton unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 3-0 to the Gallia Academy Blue Devils on Tuesday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Gallia Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Chloe Bennett out in front who had eight digs and three aces. Bennett is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served three or more in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Mallory Petro, who had six digs and three aces.

Gallia Academy has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Ironton is set to face off against their familiar foe Dawson-Bryant at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Gallia Academy will take on rival Fairland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
